Latest ARG Poll Shows McCain Leading all GOP Rivals in SC, up 13% over 2nd-place Giuliani
In a tremendous polling uptick for Senator McCain’s campaign, McCain now enjoys a lead of 13% over second-place Rudy Giuliani in South Carolina: 36% to 23%. This news was called to Campaignia’s attention by Race42008.com.
In the same ARG poll conducted in February 2007, McCain led Giuliani 35%-29%, but that lead - unlike the current one - was too narrow to be statistically significant. According to ARG’s Ballot Lead Calculator, McCain’s current 36%-23% advantage over Giuliani could be as high as 19.1%, or at worst, 6.9%.
The American Research Group’s poll was conducted from 4.27.2007 to 4.30.2007, among 600 likely Republican voters in SC, and had a margin of error (MOE) of +/- 4%. The full results:
McCain (36%)
Giuliani (23%)
undecided (12%)
undeclared Fred Thompson (10%),
Romney and undeclared Newt Gingrich (6%)
the rest scattered.
