Musings on McCain: What the New Media Is Saying - McCain Is “Quintessential Americana”, “At the Center of the Storm”, and Receives an Invocation of Teddy Roosevelt - One of His Heroes

Today, we start with Moderates for McCain’s Lorraine, who concisely describes Senator McCain as “Quintessential Americana”, citing the Manchester Union-Leader editorial.  She does so on Blogs4McCain, in a post titled The Gambler: John McCain Goes All In, rather than on her own blog.  In Lorraine’s words:

John McCain is quintessential Americana. More than a John Wayne war hero or John Hughes desperado, McCain is a real life cowboy ready to put everything on the line to do what’s right. That’s why we love him. That’s why we want him in the White House. For first time in a long while, the media is seeing him in the same way.”

At Hoosiers for McCain, David Henry writes in Hardly Irrelevant, McCain stays at the Center of the Storm:

“The media this week has been dancing a jig over what they describe as the implosion of John McCain’s bid for president. Headlines read “Immigration Makes Romney, Breaks McCain”, “Polarized McCain Near Irrelevancy”, and “Is It Adios, Amigo for McCain?”.

Irrelevancy?

For taking a position when others are like greased pigs in a pool, McCain has been cast to the ash heap of political campaigns by the yellowest of journalists. The insatiable desire for defeat, to sell newspapers, is shocking. And yet, there is not much in the way of defeat for McCain when it comes to the polls.

Recent polls show a spike in support for Romney, who is beginning to buy airtime in Iowa and New Hampshire. However, in the national head-to-head polls, McCain still beats out Hillary Clinton while Romney cannot.”

My McCain Blog chimes in  - McCain puts Romney in his place… again - on McCain-vs.-Romney on immigration, from earlier in the week.  At the end, he aptly quotes Theodore Roosevelt, one of McCain’s political heroes:

“McCain also said this about Romney’s ever changing position on immigration…

“Maybe I should wait a couple of weeks and see if it changes because it’s changed in less than a year from his position before.”

Yet another reason to vote for McCain, he is actually doing something proactive about immigration as opposed to just trying to talk it to death.

Bully for you Senator McCain!”

Campaignia speculates that TR would undoubtedly be enjoying the spirited debate (and he’d probably have a great web site, if he were running in the 21st century…)
