The ABC affiliate in Sacramento - News10 - reported the following about McCain’s appearances in Modesto and the state capital today:
With candidates beginning to ramp up their California campaign appearances, GOP presidential hopeful John McCain was the featured guest Monday at two fundraising events in Northern California, one in Modesto and one in Sacramento.The Arizona senator began his morning attending a private event at Dewz Restaurant in Modesto hosted by State Sen. Jeff Denham, R-Merced and developer Gerry Kamilos. Attendance was $500 per person, with $2,500 for a private reception.
McCain appeared for a few minutes with local elected officials and Denham at Modesto’s county courthouse before heading to Sacramento. While in the Sacramento area, McCain attended a private luncheon in Sacramento.
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney was also in California Monday. He attended a fundraising event at a golf course in Southern California. On Sunday, Rudy Giuliani, currently the front-runner among a crowded field vying for the Republican nomination, addressed about 75 guests at a private fundraiser held at the Hughson home of Duarte Nursery owner Jim Duarte.
