McCain schedules $$$ quadruple-header in Virginia/DC today, culminating in what The Politico’s Martin describes as “an end-of-the-quarter soiree.”
Remember that “over one a day” average in June? Well, Senator McCain will be pulling out all the stops today: a quadruple-header in Virginia and DC, on the heels of his day-night doubleheader in South Carolina yesterday.
1. A Richmond fund-raising breakfast.
2. A luncheon in Hampton Roads, Va.
3. Then it’s up to DC for two receptions - one in Northern Virginia and one on Capitol Hill.
4. The final event of the evening, at the Capitol Hill Club in DC, will be the most star-studded. Hat tip to The Politico’s Jonathan Martin for all of the following info - he aptly described it as “an end-of-the-quarter soiree”.
It will feature eight U.S. Senators and 17 U.S. House members who have endorsed Senator McCain. (Bear in mind that in 2000, only four of his Senate colleagues endorsed him, including his national co-chair Fred Thompson, now running this year. In addition, there are likely other Senators who have endorsed him that won’t be in attendance at this particular event.)

By the standards of 21st-century campaigning, this event is a huge bargain - one doesn’t even have to max out, to attend. A mere $1,000 can get one in the door, rather than the max-out limit of $2,300.
