NRO’s Geraghty on McCain, vis-a-vis Vitter, Vick, and Lohan: “after the month he’s had…yet he’s still at 15% nationally? Does this guy have a higher floor of support than many of us figured?”
Jim Geraghty of National Review Online’s Campaign Spot feature had the following observation on McCain in his Horserace section, where he noted that Senator McCain does have bedrock support, despite the mountain of difficulties faced by his campaign in July thus far and for the foreseeable future.
In a generalized post - “Is the Republican Primary Shaping Up A Bit Different Than Expected?” - commenting on an ABC News/Washington Post poll of Republican contenders, Geraghty wrote the following paragraphs as his lead:
