McCa$h: Recap of $$$ event in SW Ohio w/ DeWine and Rhein
On Tuesday, Senator McCain headed to southwest Ohio to raise money. The event was co-hosted by former Senator Mike DeWine, one of the four Senate supporters of McCain in 2000. (Even by the standards of that campaign, one of the most successful days on the stump for McCain that year, was one spent campaigning through the Buckeye State with DeWine.)
According to the Cincinnati Post:
McCain was in town to attend a fund raiser Tuesday co-hosted by developer Bob Rhein, owner of Robert C. Rhein Interests, and former Ohio Sen. Mike DeWine. The event was at Rhein’s home in Indian Hill.
“I’m happy to be back in Ohio where there’s lots of money,” he told reporters….”Friends, too,” he added with a smile.
He said southwestern Ohio is a critical component of any candidate’s road to the White House.
“Candidates have to know that this is where the voter rich part of the state exists,” he said. “I intend to be back as much as possible. It’s a beautiful place to visit.”
And he is not the only one. Current Republican frontrunner Rudy Giuliani is expected in town Friday for a luncheon fund raiser at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse downtown.
Only two Democrats since 1900 have won the presidency without carrying Ohio. No Republican has done so.
McCain said Ohio “remains a battleground state”…
