NJ for McCain

Matt M. (New Jersey)

Blog -  NJ for McCain: a place for news and information regarding New Jersey and Senator John McCain (Blogger) URL -  http://www.njmccain.blogspot.com

What primarily distinguishes Matt M.’s blog from the pack, is his interest in polling numbers, which comprise a greater share of the content, than the other pro-McCain blogs.  There is also, of course, his interest in the Garden State.  Although no Republican presidential candidate has carried the state in 20 years, it is extraordinarily likely that if Senator McCain were the nominee, he would aggressively contest the state, given his appeal to independent voters, of which there are a disproportionate number in New Jersey.

In addition, looking at the 2008 Republican nomination process as a whole-

Due to its geographical proximity to New York, New Jersey would seem to be fertile territory for rival candidate Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City Mayor.  Accordingly, it is a good sign for Senator McCain’s campaign, if it can make inroads, into what would appear to be Giuliani territory.

Matt also gave detailed answers to the Campaignia standard set of questions, and thus, it seems best to reproduce them, verbatim, to learn about why he created NJ for McCain and his interest in doing so.

Campaignia: Why do you support Senator McCain’s candidacy?

NJ for McCain:  “Senator McCain represents the best the Republican Party has to offer.  As a throwback to the conservatism of Goldwater and Reagan, Senator McCain is a fiscal conservative who believes in lower taxes, less government involvement in the daily lives of its citizens and is an avid anti-pork politician.”

Campaignia: Are you a Republican, Democrat, or independent?

NJ for McCain:  “Although I am a registered Republican, I consider myself a conservative first.”

Campaignia: What motivated you to create a pro-McCain web site or blog?

NJ for McCain:  “I’m new to this.   Although I’ve always taken an active role in local and state politics (and I’m an “avid” voter), I NEVER thought I’d end up blogging.  As I searched the web for news on Senator McCain, I noticed that other states had blogs focusing on their state politics with a McCain twist.

As a result, I started a blog that has a local New Jersey perspective on the 2008 race for President.  I also wanted to publicly express my appreciation for a man who has given so much to the country.”

Campaignia: Is your blog/web site aimed at garnering support for McCain in a single state, or demographic group, or industry, or is it aimed at garnering national support, without emphasis on a certain category?

NJ for McCain:  “I try to focus on state politics and Senator McCain first.  I do not discriminate, and will post interesting and newsworthy posts from across the nation.  As a poll junkie, you’ll likely find a lot of numbers and number-crunching, on my site.”

Campaignia: How precisely did you find Campaignia online? (For example, if you found Campaignia, via Google - under what search terms?)

NJ for McCain: “Campaignia found me!  :-)
